The last option is SAP HANA Enterprise, which gives users access to the full power of SAP HANA: database, data access, analytical processing, user interface, format conversion and application development. Users need to purchase standard access licenses for accessing the above mentioned features.

SAP users need to purchase Enterprise Plus or Master Plus licensing options to access the features from the SAP HANA: Data access, Data manipulation and Data cleansing. These features are only available in the Enterprise Plus licensing option of SAP HANA. SAP HANA users are not restricted to running only on the platforms and operating systems supported by their hardware. They can also run any application developed using the latest programming languages and technologies with the help of Open Source applications.

SAP HANA users need to look out for two additional licensing options, Enterprise Manager and Service Manager. The former is a service specific licensing option available only to enterprise users, whereas the latter provides access to the SAP HANA portal regardless of the users’ location. SAP HANA Enterprise Manager has more features than the standard version. It enables administrators to define workflow processes, schedule jobs and manage connections between components and modules. The administrator also has the flexibility to create user groups, edit permissions and control access.

SAP HANA Enterprise Manager users are provided with centralized permission to access and password management. They also have centralized control over authorization, monitoring and reporting as well as reporting and controlling permissions for external users. SAP HANA Enterprise Manager users may connect to external data sources via XML-based portals. External users can also access the SAP interface as a service (IaaS). SAP HANA also allows users to access the SAP console, Web Access browser, Workplace Management Language (WML) client, Business Intelligence Metrics (BIMs) and Mobile Infrastructure.

SAP HANA users need to purchase Enterprise Plus or Master Plus licensing options to access the features in the SAP HANA: Data access, Data manipulation and Data cleansing. The Enterprise Plus license is required to run on servers supported by Enterprise Manager. This license allows unauthorized users to read or change data on users and databases. On the other hand, SAP HANA Master Plus licenses can be used to run on servers running on SAP NetWeaver. The Master Plus license is required to run on servers supporting the Master Web Access Database (MWDA).

The three different user license types provide different levels of access to information and make access controlled by authorized users. Permit access is managed centrally by SAP Business Information Managers (BIM), who are assigned by the company. Users are granted access only after receiving an authorization from the BIM. SAP applications are designed such that authorized users have no difficulty in accessing data and making changes to it, but this ease of access may come at a cost, since authorized users may have access to all information stored in the database.
